Column of Pest
Vienna’s Column of Pest, or Dreifaltigkeitssäule, stands prominently on the Graben at number 28. This 17th-century memorial column commemorates the plague epidemic of 1679 and rewards a close look at its angels, clouds and sculptural side panels.
Open around the clock, it works well as a brief historic stop in the old city, especially at dusk when the surrounding square takes on an elegant atmosphere.
